With the addition of a new accessible path down to the sports area we were so lucky to get a new flower bed. Kari, the school secretary, planned and planted it up together with Andrew, the caretaker. There were fruits, vegetables and berries. The children loved getting involved with tying up plants, watering and this autumn eating the fruits of our labour.

There were juicy sun ripened tomatoes, green beans, strawberries, various herbs, a plum tree, cherry tree, gooseberry bush and red currants as well as three ginormous pumpkins which we later used for maths lessons and a guess the weight competition.

We’ve also invested in a hot composting bin so the children can see full circle how to turn leftovers of food back into compost to feed the soil for next year’s harvest.
