Visit to Warner Bros Studios 17.04.24

Last week we had the pleasure of taking 5-10kl on a super-fun visit to see the making of the Harry Potter films at Warner Bros Studios in Watford. It was so interesting to see the real props and sets used in the films and to experience first-hand the sheer scale of the operation to create these iconic films. The students were not phased crossing London in the rush hour – taking a train, tube, train and shuttle bus to get there although the Hogwarts Express would have been faster. A memorable day and some good inspiration for reading and writing fantasy stories.

Bocketts Farm 19.04.24

The pupils from year 1.-2. had an enriching experience when they visited a farm, as part of their interdisciplinary project “From farm to table”. This project aims to give them insight into the food’s path from production to consumption, while at the same time emphasizing the importance of animal welfare. During the project, students get to explore different topics such as measuring enclosures, running a farm, and they learn about the different species of animals found on a farm and much more.

During the visit, the pupils were engaged in practical learning by feeding various farm animals – from sheep and goats to alpacas. They even got the chance to get up close and personal with lambs that were only a few days old. In addition to animal care, the students were given a practical introduction to how to care for horses, and they were given a tour in a tractor to see how a farm works in practice. After a morning filled with educational activities, it was time for a well-deserved lunch, followed by play. The pupils enjoyed their free time, and they played well together. The lunch was followed by even more fun, where the girls in the class got to try their hand at horse riding, while the whole class later gathered for a round of go-karting. The day at the farm was a rewarding experience for both the young and the old!

Red Nose Day 15.03.2024

On Friday after lunch, we organised a Red Nose Day fundraising. The pupils had to complete different tasks inside and outside the school in order to complete their Red Nose bingo chart. They could among other choose between playing dart or giant Jenga and they could challenge Mathias in a ping pong match, only that he had to wear boxing gloves while playing. They could also take part in a creative task where they made their own red noses and they could be face painted by the pupils in 8-10. This was especially popular among the children in the kindergarten.

When the bingo chart was completed, the pupils received a delicious fruit kebab prepared by the FAU and then the café opened. It was a lovely table filled with delicious cakes. Thank you so much to all who contributed to it!
